Scores of professionals working with social media are pioneers exploring what’s possible as well as thought leaders shaping our future. Their experiments and my own are slowly defining the vast variety of specialities in social media and its proving to be an extensive field. What an honour to be part of this amazing communications revolution.
More specifically, I’d like to thank Kimberly Plumley and Peggy Richardson, my follow The Book Broads, for their unfailing support. Kimberly graces me with her incredible patience, constant enthusiasm, synergistic ideas and can do attitude while Peggy offers energetic ideas, thousand foot thinking, ready willingness to help and she keeps me on my technological toes. I’d also like to thank George Plumley and Renee Shupe for creating and polishing this website and so many other aspects of Beachcomber Communications. They are both a boon to the business and to me.
On a familial note, I thank my parents; Brian and Yvonne, for the amazing genetics and nurturing that make me the person I am today. I see myself in both of them. My calm demeanour and infinite patience definitely come from my Mum and my broad smile and easy manner with people comes from my Dad as does my love of technology.
I would also like to thank my fantastic husband, Paul. He is my confidante, cheerleader and go-to guy. His amazing technical skills keep all my gadgets running and he always knows when I need a cup of tea and a hug. His love and faith in my abilities are deeply comforting.
My grandparents also deserve recognition here. In particular, Poppa for his entrepreneurial spirit and for sharing his love of numbers and logic and Nana for her endless love and encouragement. I also thank Nanny Vi for her quick wit with words and constant reminder to enjoy life’s many moments and Carol for her warmth and ability to keep people connected. And, finally, Granpere (Chief Petty Officer First Class, Retired) for his constant affection and our mutual love of communications.
Furthermore, I am blessed with an amazing network of friends and colleagues who cheer me on and provide encouragement, advice and, occasionally, a cold gin and tonic.
To my fellow working mothers and amazing girlfriends – Kim, Moira, Kristi, Sam, Vandhana, Peggy, Felice, Valerie, Sonya, Carrie-Ann, Courtney, Phyllis, Melody, Rayna, Joanna, Heather, Sue, Shelley – thank you.
Thank you all,
Angela

- @LornaSuzuki Yes. I'll be tweeting in waves when I'm doing interesting things rather than a daily tweet march. Glad we'll be in touch more.
- @PoMoLibrary You're very articulate for a building, Library. ;) Tweet well!
- @LornaSuzuki Thanks for the honourific. :) My #socmed use needed de-spamming, streamlining & a "meaningful" reboot. Feeling better now.
- @LornaSuzuki Hi Lorna! I started a new contract in January and the transition has kept me very busy. Also needed to think on my #socmed use.

Even before we sat down, Angela had a good sense of what my needs for social media would be and then she helped me focus on what I can do to create a social media routine that’s simple, easy to manage, and create the kinds of connections I need to...
